Yep, thanks to last week’s voting on the Unsigned Rock Podcast 1-Track Shoot-Out, New York-based ‘The Baghdaddios’ are back! Their track Neil’s in Rehab won comfortably with 470 votes. So, here’s the track again, a really cool interview with the guys (it was well gone midnight for me when we recorded this!) plus one more track chosen by the guys from the band - Piece of Mine!

A good mix of stuff here, a couple of more laid back tracks from Pippa Rogers and Vanessa Peters + Ice Cream on Mondays, with another new track from Chasing Red. Some excellent tracks on this one, with a CD review of Naked Gun’s EP ‘Breaking the Odds’ in a few days after I’ve listened to it a bit more - thanks to Olly for sending me a copy. After the live tracks from Ambershift a couple of days ago, more of a regular show this time! Looking at heading through the Barcode launch EP tomorrow night though, and probably getting some more live stuff + an interview done. As mentioned on the the 1-Track Shoot-Out yesterday, and for those that have read the gig review from earlier this morning, I headed through to Bar Pure, Sunderland last night to catch Ambershift’s gig. I played ‘Chinatown’ from those guys back on the Unsigned Rock Podcast #27 and it went down really well, and Kieron was quite keen for me to get through to see them live and get an interview recorded. So, here’s a very bizarre interview that got recorded in the bar’s kitchen, a couple of live tracks from last night, plus an exclusive of a new track ‘15 Stone and 6′ which has only been played live so far!

I got Ambershift played last week on the show, and much like when I got From Motion to Memory played back in May, I figured that since they’re a local band, I may as well catch them live! Kieron, the band’s manager, was quite keen to look at getting an interview recorded (in the kitchen in the end…), and a few live tracks were recorded too. They’ll be coming out in a special podcast later on today or tomorrow.

Bar Pure is one of those venues that if you’re a north-east band, you have to play at. Dunno why really. I’d never been there before to be honest as I’m not really a fan of the Sunderland venues, and this just re-inforced my attitude! The sound system was terrible which made the vocals very muddy - annoying when Ambershift really were awesome! This was no fault of Ambershift, as all their gear over-powered the poor PA anyways!

They knocked out a 10-track set in half an hour, a mix of some older tracks and a few new tracks from their latest album (launch party Friday 25th August at The Cluny, Newcastle), and it was all very well received. I can see why Ambershift have played so many gigs recently and have more lined up - Kieron doesn’t really take no for an answer, and the guys obviously have a big following. Quite a few people last night had come in from checking out the guys on MySpace, and quite a good portion of the crowd weren’t exactly Ambershift gig virgins - that’s always a good sign too!

I’ll talk more about the show on the podcast, and even if you were at the gig and so heard most of the tracks that will get played, you need to listen to the interview! Good stuff, and will make you think again about what the guys were wearing (or at least one of them!)!
